TopQuadrant today announced a three-part Webinar series that will educate attendees on using SPARQL, SPIN and other Semantic Web capabilities to easily build Dynamic Business Applications. The Webinars will take place on March 11, April 1 and May 6 at 2pm ET.



This article kicks off a series of interviews on Semantic Technologies in the MIT Entrepreneurship Review with industry thought leaders including Thomas Tague (Thomson Reuters), Chris Messina (Google), David Recordon (Facebook), Will Hunsinger (Evri) and Jamie Taylor (Metaweb).


As has been reported earlier, W3C held an “RDF Next Steps” workshop in June 2010 and has published the Report of the Workshop in early July. That workshop discussed the possibility of an RDF Working Group.


In order for the Semantic Web to become a reality and success, there needs to be data on the web published as Linked Data. However, data on the web is not a new thing. People have been publishing raw data for a long time as XML, CSV or even spreadsheets. Data can also be accessed through APIs.  But where does most of the data on the web come from? Relational Databases!



Semantic Universe has begun producing linked data for its Enterprise Data World and Semantic Technology Conferences. There were several motivations behind this effort.


The RDB2RDF Working Group has published the First Public Working Draft of Use Cases and Requirements for Mapping Relational Databases to RDF. The need to share data with collaborators motivates custodians and users of relational databases (RDB) to expose relational data on the Web of Data.
